Children in house when father shot to death outside Deltona residence, deputies say

DELTONA, Fla. — A 40-year-old Deltona man was killed Saturday after being shot multiple times outside a residence 2300 block of Fountain Road, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.

Two men were seen fleeing the scene in a dark-colored Dodge Dart, deputies said.

The shooting was reported just after noon and when emergency personnel arrived at the residence, they found Brian Walsh bleeding in the backyard, investigators said.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died, the sheriff’s office said.

Walsh lived at the residence where the shooting took place, deputies said.

Several of his family members, including his children, were at the home when the shooting happened but were not injured, investigators said.

"Fortunately, the children did not see what happened, Chief Deputy John Creamer said. "It happened in the back yard."

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, 888-277-TIPS.
