Chilly night for central Florida; Warm up for the weekend

CENTRAL FLORIDA — Area residents experienced the coldest weather of the month so far overnight Monday.

Nighttime temperatures across central Florida ran about 10 degrees below the average of 52 for this time of year.

WFTV Channel 9 meteorologist Brian Shields said there were areas of frost, mostly north of the Interstate 4 corridor.

There was a frost advisory for Sumter and Marion counties.

Shields said Saturday is the first day of winter, but central Florida will climb into the middle 80s in some spots.
