Cocoa police seek women who drove man to hospital before he died

COCOA, Fla. — Cocoa police are trying to identify two women who stopped to help a dying man.

Police said the women left before investigators had a chance to speak with them.

A man flagged down two women in Cocoa Village on Friday and asked them for a ride to the hospital.

“We don't know if these two females are connected to him in any way,” said Yvonne Martinez, of the Cocoa Police Department.

When 28-year old Justin Paulus was dropped off at Weusthoff Hospital Rockledge at 5:30 p.m. Friday, he was unresponsive, police said.

Thirty minutes later, he was dead.

“We're hoping they can provide additional information as to what the condition of this individual was that could help with the death of this individual,” said Martinez.

Cocoa police said the two women, who can be seen in hospital surveillance images, are not suspects, but investigators need their help to determine the circumstances surrounding Paulus’ death.

The women were last seen in a red two-door vehicle, possibly a Ford Probe.

“We absolutely want them to contact us. They’re simply wanted for questions. We have a lot of questions we need answers to regarding this individual,” Martinez said.

The names of the women are unknown.
