Community reeling after man, 80, found dead in Scottsmoor home

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is still investigating after an 80-year-old man was found dead inside his home by a concerned friend.

The home on Sunset Avenue in Scottsmoor has been a crime scene for two days.

Investigators have left the scene but are not saying what they may have found out about the death of Grady Wright.

“I came out this morning and the tape had been took down. It just hurts. He's not there anymore. And he was always there for any of us,” said Wright’s neighbor, Vernie Driggers.

Wright attended First Baptist Church of Scottsmoor, in the same small neighborhood he called home.

“Many of my church people are his neighbors so they felt it right away,” said the church’s pastor, Bruce Daniel. “ He was such a gentleman and that's the best way to describe it, a gentleman.”

He also said Wright wasn't much of a talker, but he was active in his church, taking part in a food ministry every Tuesday night and serving for those in need.

A friend discovered Wright dead inside his home on Friday night.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office has been investigating since then.

An autopsy was performed on Wright on Sunday, but investigators did not say what it revealed.
