Company accused of not paying workers may have reopened under new name

SANFORD, Fla. — A telemarketing company that's facing accusations of not paying its employees may be back in business under a new name.

A former employee of Live Response in Orlando told WFTV he learned the company might be opening a new location in Sanford.

The old location of Live Response medical alert company on Parkway Center Court is now vacant with nothing but cubicles inside. Eyewitness News was there when former employees nearly started a riot at the business because they said they weren't being paid. The workers tried to stop owners from packing up and closing the business.

"Stop those trucks," the group said.

One of those former employees, who has been looking for a new job, said a CraigsList telemarketing ad led him back to the same company owners, but at a new location.

"I couldn't believe it when I walked in the door, I really couldn't," the man, who didn't want to identified, said.

To his surprise the same owners appeared to be operating under the new name Marketing King at a Sanford office building.

"Same bosses, same everything," he said. "They said I would get my money if I didn't tell anyone where they were."

WFTV went to the Sanford location looking for answers Friday night, but no one would discuss the situation. The former employee said he's contacted the Florida Attorney General's office and was told they'll be looking into the case.
