Child porn, video of young girl bathing found on Sanford man's computer

SANFORD, Fla. — A Sanford man was arrested after investigators found child pornography files in his computer, including a video of a preteen girl while she bathed, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

Officers said David Lester, 38, was charged with six counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of video voyeurism.

Authorities said the girl in the bathing video was unaware she was being recorded and that she is someone he knows.

The Sheriff's Office said investigators with the Crimes Against Children Unit received information in early April of an Internet Protocol address in Seminole County that was being used to share child pornography.

Investigators said they traced the IP address to Lester's home and arrested him after executing a search warrant and finding the files Wednesday morning.

"The victim we were able to identify, we have only one video at this point," said Kim Cannaday of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. "However, we did seize his computer. We're going to forensically examine that, and he could face additional charges."

Lester's neighbors told Channel 9 he was very involved in the community and was the vice president of their homeowners association.

"It seems unreal in this community because we're very seldom in the news here," said neighbor Buck Dohmer.

Lester, an unemployed, full-time student, was booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on $10,800 bond.

Despite being unemployed, Lester does have an income.

"I have a $1,500 a month stipend coming in from the VA (Department of Veterans Affairs)," he told the judge.

But if Lester posts bond, the honorably discharged veteran is forbidden from returning home. He's been banned from three residences, authorities said, and the school the young victim attends.
