Cops: Mom found it 'funny' that 4-year-old was found wandering outside

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Police who were called to a Boynton Beach apartment complex found a 4-year-old boy wandering around in the middle of the night.

Authorities said that once officer's found the child's mother early Monday, she "seemed to think the incident was funny."

The Palm Beach Post reports that the charges were serious enough to land the mother, Elena Chikaurova, and her boyfriend, Pavel Krutakov, briefly in jail.

Police said a resident saw the boy and asked where he lived. He led the person to an apartment, but no one appeared to be inside.

As they stood there, a man walked up, grabbed the boy, put him in the apartment and left again. Police said they found Chikaurova passed out inside.

An officer said Chikaurova didn't "seem to think it was a big deal" that the boy had wandered outside.

The couple was released on bail.
