Corrections officer arrested, accused of molestation of young girl at day care

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County investigators arrested a suspect Tuesday on accusations he molested a young girl at an Ormond Beach day care several years ago.
 
David Darin Bugno, 49, was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation. The suspect and his wife, who ran the day care, have since divorced and the day care is no longer in business.
 
Investigators said they were alerted to the case in April 2015 after the victim, who was between 1 and 4 years old at the time of the alleged abuse, told her mother about the abuse.
 
The victim, who is now 9 years old, said Bugno touched her inappropriately and showed her pornographic videos while she was at the day care between 2008 and 2010.
 
The victim's mother said she thought she could trust Bugno because of his job as a corrections officer at Tomoka Correctional Institution.
