DCF investigating Easter Sunday murder-suicide in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies responded to a home on Pepin Drive early Easter Sunday after an 11-year-old girl called 911 and reported her parents had just been shot.

Ivanisse Rosario, daughter of Pedro Rosado, 39, said her father was a good man who fell on difficult times financially.

"He had been through a lot, and he was going through a lot. He was in debt, (and) his life was upsetting," Rosario said.

Deputies said Rosado shot and killed his wife, Gladys Rosario, 39, before turning the gun on himself.

Ivanisse Rosario said she was with her mother, who was once married to Rosado, when she received the news.

"I just dropped down and started crying because I can't believe it. Why would he take his own life and take his wife's life?" Ivanisse Rosario said.

Investigators said several of the couple's children were inside the house during the incident. Their 11-year-old daughter, who was the oldest, made the 911 call.

The children have been placed with their grandparents. Members of Rosado's family from his previous marriage said they are in mourning and send their condolences.

The Florida Department of Children and Families said it's investigating.
