SANFORD, Fla. — Three people were arrested after Sanford police officers responded to a shooting in the area of 6th Street and the railroad tracks at about 12:30 p.m.
Police said the suspects crashed their car 2 1/2 miles away from the shooting scene in a ditch and were taken into custody after they tried to run away. Police said there was a chase, but they did not say how fast the car was going or how long it lasted.
"I heard about six shots. Six or seven shots, then I (saw) the young man running across the field," a man, who asked not to be identified, said.
One person died, but police have not said if the victim is a man or a woman.
Police later identified the suspects as Dazman Williams, Shakira Williams, and David Kimbrough Jr.
Dazman Williams and Shakira Williams are facing murder charges, while Kimbrough is facing weapons charges.

The names of the victim and suspects has not yet been released.
