ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 25-year-old DeBary man was fatally struck by a car early Sunday as he ran across University Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Finnessa Randall, 22, of Virginia, was driving her Honda Civic eastbound on University Boulevard near Lake Lynda Drive shortly before 12:30 a.m. when witnesses said Rian Whitmore darted in front of her car, FHP Sgt. Kim Montes said.
Whitmore wasn’t in a crosswalk. Troopers are still investigating from where he was leaving.
He was brought to Florida Hospital East, where he later died, Montes said.
Troopers are trying to determine if Whitmore was under the influence of alcohol.
The crash remains under investigation.
No other information was released.
