DeBary residents can keep chickens thanks to autistic boy's family

DEBARY, Fla. — DeBary residents can now keep as many as three chickens per household, thanks to a little boy who wouldn't give up his pets.

J.J. Hart's parents said the chickens helped their autistic son interact with the world. But the birds violated an ordinance, until the City Council changed that on Wednesday night.

The Hart's fight started when, they said, someone killed four chickens they owned.

The family had been fighting to keep the chickens.
