Decomposed body found in DeBary field identified

DEBARY, Fla. — Deputies said they identified the body of a woman found in a DeBary field.

A resident found the body of 48-year-old Debra Annette Smith of DeBary. Smith had not been seen since Nov. 8.

Deputies said she left her home after getting into an argument with her partner. When she left the residence, Smith said she planned to walk to Sanford and stay with a friend there.

Deputies say she never arrived and was reported missing Monday.

The cause of death is pending toxicology results.

When the body was first discovered there was speculation it was connected to the search for missing mother Yessenia Suarez and her two children, but deputies said that was not the case.

A resident found the body on South Leisure World Drive near Barwick Road, officials said.
