Deltona father upset abortion video shown in daughter's classroom

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A father is upset that a private school teacher showed students video of an abortion in school.

Channel 9 asked the headmaster why he plans to show the same video again next year at Trinity Christian Academy.

The father, who wished to remain anonymous because he doesn't want his daughter to face repercussions at school, said she was disgusted by the video.

He thinks the school in Deltona crossed a line by showing the video to 11th and 12th graders.

"I haven't seen a video of an abortion, so for someone that age to see something like that, it can leave an effect. She can't get in to see R-rated movies, but they're showing abortions in school," the father said.

The school said it did send out an email to parents ahead of time, and in a guide for teachers, it said "Tell students about what they are about to see ahead of time, don't trick them."

Dennis Robinson, Trinity Christian Academy headmaster, said the school teaches the truth from "a Biblical worldview."

He is making no apologies for the video.

"In the state of Florida, a 14-year-old girl can walk into a clinic and get an abortion without parental consent or even notification. These were older than that. It is critically important that they know the gravity of their decisions," Robinson said.

The video was made for classrooms by Scott Klusendorf, a nationally known pro-life speaker.

"Once you start talking about the ultimate questions, do humans have value for what they are or what they can do?" asked Klusendorf of the Life Training Institute in a video.

Robinson said the video is graphic, but that is the point.
