Deputies arrest suspect in 2 Orange County bank robberies

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County investigators arrested a man Saturday who they said is responsible for robbing two Fairwinds Credit Unions last month.

Deputies said William Bass, 40, was captured about 3:30 a.m. Saturday near Odyssey Lake Way in Orlando.

A search warrant was put out for his arrest shortly after two Fairwinds Credit Unions were robbed within an hour of each other on June 14.

Detectives said Bass walked into the credit union on Alafaya Trail and passed the teller a note demanding money.

According to reports, another Fairwinds location on Semoran Boulevard was robbed in a similar fashion 40 minutes later.

Deputies said Bass is responsible for bother robberies.

Bass complained of chest pains during his arrest and was taken to Florida Hospital East.

Deputies said he appeared intoxicated from narcotics.

He was released from the hospital and taken to the Orange County Jail.
