Deputies: Intruder shot during Orange County home invasion

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Several deputies responded to an Orange County apartment complex early Wednesday morning after reports of an attempted robbery and shooting.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, at least two men and a woman, armed with guns, went into an apartment to rob the five residents.

Deputies said after the group entered the apartment, one of the residents went to a bedroom, grabbed a gun and shot one of the intruders.

Three intruders were attempting to drive away from the scene when deputies arrived.

The intruder who was shot was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, according to investigators.

Two other intruders were taken into custody.

Investigators believe that one of the intruders may have known at least one of the residents of the apartment. They said there might be one more intruder who was not caught.

Channel 9 has a crew at the scene. We will update this story on WFTV.com and have complete details on Eyewitness News Daybreak.
