Deputies investigate claim pornographic photos of student spread through high school

ORLANDO, Fla. — An investigation was launched after deputies learned of allegation that students at Timber Creek High School were using social media to spread pornographic photos of a 16-year-old girl.

Deputies said the incident involves a 17-year-old boy, who is accused of sending naked photos of the girl using the Kik app.

Channel 9 learned another student who saw the message reported it to administrators.

"People were just sending it to each other, and they didn't really care about nothing," student Jadrielle Rosaro said.

The school district called the message "sexting" and released a statement.

"The district takes these allegations very seriously. In fact, it is addressed in the code of student conduct, and disciplinary action is a consequence for an infraction of this kind."

"I think it's a horrible thing to do to another person, especially without their approval," Roxane Perret said.

School officials said disciplanry action could be expulsion.

Another concern for the sender is that spreading naked photos of a 16-year-old could be considered distributing child pornography, even if the sender is underage. A conviction could land the sender on the state's registered sex offender list.

"If you're spreading around an image of someone who is under 18 years old, that's still a child, still a minor," student Abigail Brussel said.

Students said the victim is a student at the school and may be the ex-girlfriend of the boy, but officials have not confirmed that.
