Deputies: Leesburg High School student punched girl, had stun gun in backpack

LEESBURG, Fla. — A fight Tuesday at Leesburg High School ended with a teenage girl in the hospital and a teenage boy facing felony battery charges, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Delorenzo McCaster, 17, had ome sort of dispute with an 18-year-old girl and began punching her in the face, deputies said.

Shortly after the attack, deputies said they discovered a stun gun in the suspect’s backpack.

There were numerous Leesburg police officers around the school following the incident.

The victim was taken to the hospital with a possible broken nose.

Leesburg High School has seen its share of violence over the past few weeks.

Within the past couple months, Channel 9 has reported on numerous incidents of fighting at the school, including one in which 10 fights broke out during a lunch period.

Ten girls were suspended during that incident.

Deputies don’t believe Tuesday’s fight is connected to the lunch period fights.
