Deputies: Man arrested after robbing 2 pharmacies in tourist area

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A suspected robber who deputies said hit up two Orange County pharmacies Friday night is behind bars.

Deputies filled the parking lot outside the Walgreens on International Drive and Central Florida Parkway around 11 p.m. after surveillance video showed the suspect approach a man outside the store.

Deputies said the suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Carl McCranie, tried to grab the victim’s shopping bag, but there was a language barrier and McCranie stabbed the man in the arm.

The victim ran inside the store for help, while McCranie drove away in a silver Volkswagen, according to deputies.

“It is fairly shocking (for that) to happen around here because it is full of tourists,” said tourist Michael Griffin.

Deputies said McCranie didn’t stop after the Walgreens robbery.

They said he drove to a nearby CVS and snatched a wallet from a shopper.

The victim called 911 and deputies were able to match a description of McCranie’s car, which they spotted and followed to a motel on Orange Blossom Trail, where he was arrested.

He was arrested on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon.
