ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Orange County deputies said they are searching for a robber who terrorized a clerk, before she could hand over money.
Investigators released a picture of the robber who they said claimed he had a gun but did not show it, and then lunged at the woman and choked her.
The robbery happened at a 7-Eleven on McCoy Road, and investigators described how the incident went down.
"A black male enters the store, selects some products, brings them to the counter and he puts the clerk into a headlock. [He] tells her he has a firearm and threatens her life, [and] then robs the store, [and] then robs the store of the money from the cash register," said Lt. Parks Duncan of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
"Very brazen. Very dangerous. A lot of times people make threats, but this one took it a step further, which makes him more of a higher priority for us," Duncan said.
The man is in his 40s with salt and pepper hair, a scruffy beard and wearing a trench coat, officers said.
Earlier this week, what appeared to be a different suspect, robbed clerks at gunpoint at a 7-Eleven along Conroy-Windermere Road.
It's a troubling trend that often leaves victim's unable to stay at their jobs.
"I've seen many times people who are victims of these crimes have to quit the job because they can't handle it psychologically," said Duncan.
