Deputies: Man seriously injured in Flagler County plane crash

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A man was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when the single-engine plane he was flying crashed in southern Flagler County, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office said.

A witness called 911 at about 4 p.m. to report that a small plane had crashed in an open, rugged field, deputies said.

Investigators said the plane crashed near Rodeo Acres Road, north of State Road 40 and several miles east of State Road 11.

The pilot, who wasn't publicly identified, was the only person aboard the aircraft.

He was flown to a hospital by a Volusia County Sheriff's Office helicopter.

The NTSB and the FAA continue to investigate the crash.
