Deputies remove 6-foot long snake from elderly woman's Lake Wales home

LAKE WALES, Fla. — An elderly Lake Wales woman had an unwanted guest removed from her home: a 6-foot long banded water snake.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office posted a picture of the snake on Facebook on Friday, with the caption: "Further proof that we are a full-service law enforcement agency."

A spokesperson said the snake was found under a file cabinet in a home off Chalet Suzanne Road on Dinner Lake.

Deputies were called in to remove the snake and take it to a remote location.

This snake capture comes as Florida Fish and Wildlife officers continue to look for a missing monocled cobra in Ocala.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office even shared the Polk County Sheriff's office photo on Facebook, with the caption: "We have the Ocala Cobra still on the loose in Marion County. Sheriff Woods has a warrant out for his arrest."
