Deputies search for Seminole County bank robber

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. — A Winter Springs bank robber may have thought he was in disguise wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses, but surveillance cameras were rolling.

Seminole County deputies hope the clear shot of his face will help catch the man who they said could be a serial bank robber.

Deputies swarmed a Chase bank branch in Winter Springs early Wednesday evening after the man passed a teller a note implying he had a weapon.

Then he took off out the front door, cash in hand.

It just so happened deputies were right around the corner where a robbery had happened at a Trustco bank.

Witnesses had called deputies just minutes earlier when they spotted a similar-looking man walk into the bank, behaving strangely, then leaving without making any transaction.

Investigators surrounded the bank but by the time they got there, authorities said the man was gone.

Witnesses said the getaway car was a gold Saturn Vue with Texas tags driven by his accomplice.
