• Deputies search for driver who led them on chase, crashed into utility pole

ORLANDO, Fla. - Deputies are looking for the shooters who they said fired at one another on a busy street packed with drivers.

Investigators said the bullets were flying on West Colonial and North Powers drives just after 7:00 p.m. Friday.

Deputies spotted a truck they said was involved, and chased the driver for a couple of miles.

They said the truck crashed into a power pole at Pine Hills Road and Old Winter Garden Drive and the driver fled the scene.

They said they found ammunition in the truck.

“Our concern [is] this truck was part of a shootout and we have not found the other vehicle and our concern is that someone could be injured,” said Lt. Paul Hopkins with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. “So far we haven’t found a weapon in the truck, and we believe he has a gun on him, and he is a threat to the community.”

Deputies set up a perimeter in the area to track down the gunman.
