Deputy, retired cop kill 13-foot gator in Econ River

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County deputy was hunting in the Econ River when he spotted a massive gator.

Deputy Jason Forgey and retired Winter Park police detective Jeff Harris said it took two encounters and hours of struggling to catch the reptile in August.

The gator weighed in at 737.5 pounds and measured 13 feet long.
