ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Despite a recent increase in law enforcement patrols along International Drive, violent criminals are still targeting the area.

Just two weeks after International Drive property owners agreed to spend around $160,000 to hire additional security, two violent crimes were reported in the area.

Many tourists told Eyewitness News they didn't think crime was an issue on International Drive.

"I didn't really expect that there would be that kind of level of crime here, though," visitor Maureen Gallagher said.

A masked gunman robbed a store at the Premuim Outlets Saturday night and two tourists were robbed at gunpoint near their hotel early Monday morning.

"I'd like to think I feel safe. After hearing that, it scares you a bit," tourist Robert Eaton said.

A food truck owner who regularly sets up on International Drive said he stays open until 1 a.m. and he's not worried.

"Plus there's private security at the hotel," Marcos, the food truck owner, said.

Investigators said the people responsible for the recent crimes were not found. Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call CRIMELINE.
