Detectives search for gunmen in fatal Winter Park shooting

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - Seminole County investigators are trying to find the people who shot and killed a man Friday morning in his Winter Park home.

They believe the victim, Stephen Beglane, may have known the shooters.

Shots erupted in the 7300 block of Fieldcrest Avenue near Aloma Avenue around 3 a.m.

Homicide detectives spent the day at the home, where they removed hard drives and lap top computers.

They need any piece of evidence that may help them figure out who shot and killed Beglane.

His wife told neighbors she heard six shots inside their home.

“She came to my house first at three in the morning and I didn’t answer. She was hollering my name. I didn’t hear her,” Barry Baggett said.

The woman ran next door where another neighbor called 911.

Residents said that the assailants bound her hands with zip ties and covered her head with a pillow case just before the shots were fired.

Beglane’s wife told neighbors she may know the intruders, but wasn’t sure.

They indicated Beglane was known to have money as a result of playing cards.

Emergency crews rushed Beglane to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Investigators are not saying if the assailants were allowed into the home, or if they forced their way in.

Beglane’s wife wasn’t physically injured during the incident.
