Dog behind deadly attacks of farm animals in Geneva, residents say

SEMINOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Animal owners in a part of Seminole County are on high alert after two deadly dog attacks.

Residents in the Geneva neighborhood are worried a child might be the next victim.

Meanwhile, officers are trying to trap the dog before it kills again.

The dog has killed five sheep and goats, and wounded 10 other animals at farms on a rural stretch of Osceola Road.

Neighbors said they are keeping their livestock and children a little bit closer until the dog is caught.

“These are my babies. I wouldn’t want anything to happen to them,” said Connor Compton.

Compton and his family found five of their farm animals injured and four others dead, after their dogs started barking Sunday morning.

Compton’s father got a glimpse of the dog that attacked as it jumped over a 4-foot fence.

He said it was a rottweiler.

The same animal was reportedly spotted about a mile down the road Saturday morning at a farm.

Nikki Geiger said she heard the dog before she saw it.

“We saw a rottweiler in our pasture and it had attacked all of the sheep,” she said.

One of the sheep was killed, and five others were hurt.

Geiger surrounded the pen where the sheep and goats stay with hot wire to prevent another attack.

The Geiger and Compton families reported the attacks to Seminole County Animal Control, which has set up dog traps.

The Comptons said nearby parents are concerned that might not work fast enough.

Animal Control officers will be patrolling the stretch of road looking for the dog reportedly behind the attacks.

Residents do not know if it’s someone’s pet or an abandoned animal.
