Driver charged with DUI after trooper on other crash witnesses hit-and-run

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A state trooper said she witnessed a hit-and-run while at the scene of a different crash in Orange County.

The trooper said she was on the State Road 408 overpass at Lake Underhill Road and Semoran Boulevard, just after 1 a.m. Monday, when she heard the second crash, and then saw the driver take off.

The trooper said she followed the driver, Fabian Sanchez, 21.

WFTV spoke with the victim, Katherine Hernandez, who said she wanted to take matters into her own hands.

"I was just at the light, and then they hit me. I wasn't thinking. I didn't know what to do. I was going to chase him," said Hernandez.

No one was hurt in the crash.

Officers said Sanchez was arrested and charged with DUI and leaving the scene of a crash.
