Driver fleeing police causes multi-car accident in Apopka

APOPKA, Fla. — Apopka police are searching for the driver who they said caused a multi-car crash and then ran away from the scene Friday night.
 
The eastbound lanes of State Road 436 were closed after the accident.
 
The accident happened at Piedmont Wekiwa Road near the Riverwalk Movie Theater.
 
Police said when an officer attempted to pull a car over for a traffic violation driver sped off.
 
According to police, the driver ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle causing four more vehicles to crash.
 
Two people were injured in the accident. Officers said one suffered moderate injuries and the second had minor injuries.
 
Late Friday night, police were still searching for the driver who fled the scene.
