Driver flees on foot after crashing car with no seats into home

ORLANDO, Fla. — Authorities are investigating after a car with a race motor crashed into an Orange County home and then burst into flames on Wednesday.

The crash happened on Shrimp Street close to John Young Parkway and Conroy Road, but when authorities arrived, the driver was nowhere to be found.

The Florida Highway Patrol said no one was injured, but they want to find the driver.

Investigators said there were rubber marks on the road for more than a block and that the car slammed into the home while in reverse.

Neighbor Carlos Alvarez said he saw most of what happened next and took lots of pictures.

"I was taking a shower and I heard this terrible noise," said Alvarez. "I just jump out of there. I came outside (and) I saw the car burning in there. I was shocked about what happened. I thought it was somebody in the house."

Alvarez said he some someone come out of the home with a fire extinguisher as others called 911.

"This guy was speeding," he said. "You can see the marks in the street, and he lost control."

Channel 9 learned the motor in the car is a race motor in the car, something that may not even be street legal.

There were also no seats in the car, which would have made things difficult for the driver.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
