Evacuations at outlet mall after suspicious item found

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County sheriff's bomb squad responded to a report of a suspicious item at Premium Outlets off of Vineland Ave. Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators said a custodian was cleaning on the east side of the mall when she noticed a suspicious item in a trash can. The sheriff's office was notified.

According to mall managers, the mall closed while the bomb squad investigated the incident.

The sheriff's office said the item appears to be a discarded anti-theft device.

The mall has reopened.
