Family of man killed hopes road rally will lead to tips in 3-year-old murder

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Joshua Levi Burch's truck hasn't changed in three years.

All the hunting cages and gear in the back are virtually the same as when he last traveled Pleasant Hill Road three years ago Thursday, the night Burch lost his life in what investigators think was a road rage incident.

"Obviously this is a cold-hearted person that can just (get) in the cab of an occupied vehicle and kill somebody and drive off," said the victim's father, Burch.

Lynn Burch has been out in the median for the last three years on the anniversary of his son's death along with dozens of family and friends.

Every year they bring the truck Levi was driving hoping it will jog someone's memory or make someone feel like it's time to come forward with information on who shot the 20-year-old.

"People out there may know something that they don't really think is that significant, but it might be the leading tip," Rita Temples, the victim's aunt, said.

Just after midnight, Levi was driving on Pleasant Hill Road with a friend when another person drove directly next to Levi in a dark SUV, put down his passenger window, and made a direct shot to Levi in the upper chest area.

Levi drove to a nearby 7-11 convenience store, but died from that one shot.

Levi's father thinks the shooter still lives in the area.

"It could be someone who travels on this road on a regular basis, that somebody sees every day, may not think that information is significant or important but to detectives it could be," Twis Lizasuain with the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.
