ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Florida Department of Transportation crews have completed paving work on I-4 at the Fairbanks Avenue curve Sunday night.
The FDOT crews started the work early Saturday morning.
FDOT re-paved the dangerous curve that's contributed to dozens of crashes and several jack-knifed semi trucks.
The work prompted the closure of two westbound lanes of I-4 from Lee Road to Fairbanks Avenue throughout the weekend. The lanes had to be closed from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The lane closures caused miles of back up throughout the day Saturday.
On Sunday, traffic delays were not as much of an issue.
Officials said they are hoping the new asphalt will help in preventing crashes on the notorious curve.
