FHP: 10-year-old run over by OUC truck following crash

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 10-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was run over by an OUC utilities vehicle, authorities said.

Allen McCord said he was in his back yard when he heard a crash between an OUC work truck and a van towing a trailer on Wild Horse Road and Pershing Avenue.

"Oh you could just hear brakes screeching and then a loud, loud crash," McCord said.  "Then the kids were screaming and yelling so I knew there was a girl involved somehow."

Troopers at the scene said the OUC truck turned in front of the van outside an OUC facility. FHP said both vehicles swerved after impact and the OUC truck ran over the girl, who was walking in the crosswalk with a friend.

"She was not totally out, she came around a little bit before they took her away, but she was not real responsive or anything," McCord said.

An OUC representative said they are working with officers, but wouldn't provide any further details.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the girl who was struck," Erika Hodges of OUC said.

The crash remains under investigation.

FHP said no charges have been filed yet.
