ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - A fire gutted a home Friday in Ormond Beach and investigators are trying to determine what caused the blaze.

The home on Thomas Street was destroyed in the fire that happened at about 10 a.m. Friday, officials said.

Firefighters said when they arrived at the scene they saw flames coming through the roof, windows and garage.

"That's the hottest fire I've ever seen. It just engulfed this house in no time," neighbor Ronnie Austin said.

Austin said he noticed teenagers trying to get out through a window after the fire broke out.

"One of the young girls said she was smoking a cigarette in bed and the 15-year-old said that he was cooking breakfast," Austin said.

Eyewitness News spoke to the homeowner, who said he was renting the house to his friends and they had a party on Thursday. He said the fire was an accident.

"A friend was here with them and he was playing around with fire and I don't know; I haven't talked to anybody yet," homeowner Jason Gyuro said.

Firefighters had to cut the garage open to get to the fire. The fire was quickly knocked down, but not before the home was a total loss.

No one was injured in the fire.
