VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - Firefighters worked to put out a house fire in Volusia County late Monday night.
Flames shot through the home on Orange Avenue in DeLand, and firefighters said it took longer to put out because there were not any fire hydrants nearby. The house was destroyed.
Neighbors said they went to see what was happening when they heard sirens and saw helicopters flying overhead.
"I just had to run and see because I have family and friends that live over this way, so I had to make sure it wasn't any of them that was in danger," said a neighbor.
The neighbor also told WFTV the homeowner is a truck driver and is out of town.
