Body of missing St. Cloud fisherman found

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Searchers found the body a fisherman who was missing in south Osceola County Tuesday.

Officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Osceola County Sheriff's Department spent Monday night and much of the day Tuesday searching for a commercial fisherman who they believe fell overboard sometime late Monday night.

According to officials, William Louis Platt, 64, of St. Cloud, was fishing for catfish alone on Lake Marian when he disappeared.

Officials believe he may have fallen from his boat while trying to untangle a fishing line from the boat's propeller.

Platt's body was found floating in the lake at around 2:20 p.m., according to the FWC.

On Monday night, Platt's boat was found running with no one aboard, officials said.

Officials said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
