WESTON, Fla. - A Florida man looking for golf balls found the jaws of an alligator instead.
Video showed Florida Fish and Wildlife officials wrangling the alligator out of the water at a golf course lake in Weston, just west of Fort Lauderdale.
Stephen Martinez told FWC officers he was fishing for golf balls when the gator chomped down on his hand and arm.
He said he didn’t see the gator coming.
“It’s a rare occasion. These things don’t happen that often, and it was just being at the wrong place at the wrong time,” Martinez said.
It’s unknown if the gator the officer caught is the same one that bit Martinez.
