Flagler schools' lockdown lifted after man accused of threats arrested

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office locked down the campuses of Flagler Palm Coast High School, Matanzas High School, Imagine School at Town Center and Daytona State College Flagler Palm Coast for several hours Wednesday.

Sheriff's officials said the schools were locked down after a former student of Flagler Palm Coast High School posted threatening messages overnight on Facebook that included harming himself.

Deputies identified the former student as William Hofner, 20,  formerly of Palm Coast.

According to deputies, Hofner is a transient. They said they operated under the assumption that he had access to weapons, based on Facebook postings.

Hofner was taken into custody in the Flagler Beach area Wednesday afternoon, according to deputies.

They said that charges against Hofner are pending.
