Florida reports 109 coronavirus-related deaths as total cases near 700K

ORLANDO, Fla. — State health officials on Saturday announced 109 additional deaths from illness linked to COVID-19.

Florida’s death toll now stands at 14,190.

Saturday’s data also showed 2,795 new cases of the virus, lower than the 2,847 cases noted on Friday.

Since the pandemic began, the number of coronavirus cases recorded statewide totals 698,682.

Of the latest 109 deaths in Florida, 17 involved Central Florida residents, including eight in Marion County, three in Polk County, two in Brevard County and one each in Orange, Seminole, Lake and Sumter counties.

No new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported in Osceola, Volusia and Flagler counties.

To date, the number of negative tests recorded by state health officials totals 4,536,325, an increase of 26,218 since Friday.
