Former Disney worker accused of stealing from visitors

ORLANDO, Fla. - A former Disney worker is accused of stealing from visitors staying in a park resort and from the company itself.

Aurillelhy Bentancourt was working at the front desk of the Disney Contemporary Resort when detectives said she funneled customers' over-payments and bogus charges into her bank account.

Disney said it didn't realize someone was stealing from the company. When they made the discovery and contacted authorities, it took another year to track down Bentancourt.

Detectives said she stole over-payments customers made on rooms by refunding the credits onto her own credit card.

According to reports, Betancourt would also issue fake room credits for customers she pretended were dissatisfied with their room. But when the customer checked out, detectives said she would put the credit onto her own card also.

"It's not very good at all, not for the Disney image, not someone from the UK. It's not very good at all to be honest," said visitor Tony Evans.

The money Bentancourt is accused of stealing doesn't just affect the customers she stole from and Disney; several travel agents said the cost is likely passed onto customers.

"It's a big loss in the company so the prices will possibly go up, and people like me, I'm paying whatever for the hotel," said Evans.

Bentancourt was caught after the credit card she put all the credits on was found to be used in conjunction with her employee discount card.

She bonded out of jail after her arrest.
