Former Isleworth millionaire accused of killing wife remains in jail on $1M bond

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County millionaire who was convicted in 2011 of killing his wife will be getting a new trial after the case was recently overturned.

For the first time in years, Bob Ward may be able to walk around as a free man, but three days after a judge gave him a $1 million bond, he remains in jail.

Ward is in custody at the Orange County Jail and his attorneys did not give any indication when, or if, the bond would be posted.

Ward was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted in 2011, but an appeals court determined his attorneys made mistakes during the trial, including submitting inadmissible evidence, and overturned the conviction.

Initially, Ward was planning to live with family in Atlanta, but a condition of his bond requires he stay in Orange County and meet with his bondsman, in person, every week.

His attorneys did not say what their housing plans for Ward would be if he is not able to leave Orange County.
