ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A bear was fatally struck by a car early Friday in near Apopka, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
The bear was found in the median of Apopka Boulevard at Hiawassee Road not far from Wekiva High School, FWC spokesman Greg Workman said.
The bear is believed to be a young male weighing about 100 pounds, Workman said.
A wildlife biologist was called to the scene to investigate the death.
No other details were given.
