Gunman ambushes parked car, shoots man and woman, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Two people were taken to the hospital early Thursday after someone opened fire on the parked car they were in, Orange County sheriff’s deputies said.

The shooting happened at about 4:50 a.m. shortly after the victims pulled up to a residence in the 5900 block of Bolling Drive, investigators said.

Moments after parking in the yard, the 25-year-old driver told deputies someone started shooting, hitting him and his 34-year-old female passenger.

After his initial statement, the driver refused to continue cooperating with investigators and a statement could not be given by the woman before she was taken to the hospital.

The victims were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

A description of the shooter was not available.

No other information was immediately released.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline, 1-800-423-TIPS.
