Hazmat crews respond to situation near Health Central Hospital in Ocoee

OCOEE, Fla. — An Orange County hazmat team and the Ocoee Police Department were called to Heath Central Hospital in Ocoee Monday afternoon after someone was exposed to a hazardous chemical near the hospital.

Officials were called to investigate a possible hazardous material on a patient who came to the medical office building adjacent to the hospital, officials said.

Officials wouldn't say what that material was or whether any evacuations were ordered.

Official did say they closed the emergency department during the investigation.

Around 7:30 p.m. the hospital sent out a notice saying the emergency room reopened, but they did not elaborate on the incident.
