ORLANDO, Fla. —

Airports in central Florida are packed with thousands of travelers on what officials said is the third-busiest travel day of the holiday season.

The holiday travel season goes from December 17th until January 7th and the day after Christmas is considered the third-busiest day, officials at Orlando International Airport said.

On Thursday, long lines filled the check-in area at Orlando International Airport. Several travelers said they waited about 30 minutes to get their ticket and check their bags.

More than 117,000 travelers are expected to pass through OIA on Thursday, according to officials. Airport officials suggested people arrive at least two hours before their scheduled flights.

Many said they made it through the airport quickly despite the crowds of travelers.

"It's moving pretty quickly. The line is longer than I've ever seen but they're doing a really good job," traveler Chad Patten said.

As of Thursday afternoon, there were no flight cancellations at OIA and only a few delays.
