Teen ticketed for careless driving after SUV crashes into home

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A family was awakened in the middle of the night when an SUV came crashing into their Orange County home.

The crash happened early Thursday morning, along Fern Creek Avenue near Orange Avenue.

The homeowner told WFTV he believes the driver is his neighbor. The SUV crashed into Mark Bruno's son's bedroom.

"We were all sleeping. [There was] a loud crash. My dogs were barking, and then my son screaming," Bruno said.

Bruno said his son ran into his room hysterically, saying a car had crashed into his room.

Bruno said someone showed up at his door with a bloody face, asking for help.

First responders said Kevin Villegas, 18, was taken to the hospital, but his condition was not released.

As for the Bruno family, their home might not look badly damaged from the outside, but they said the walls are shifted, the air-conditioning unit won't work, and they can't stay in the house for now.

"The fire department has already cut the power. Inside the house, they've damaged the main wall in the house," said Bruno.

Villegas was ticketed for careless driving, and troopers said the crash was not alcohol-related.
