House, roads flood after Orange City receives 3 inches of rain

ORANGE CITY, Fla. — As temperatures climbed into the 90s Saturday, a few storms developed in the heat.

The storms developed along with the sea breeze and were isolated all afternoon, gradually building closer to Orlando.

By late afternoon, one of the storms in Volusia County had become severe with a threat for quarter-size hail and 60 mph winds. Later, this storm would help trigger others and a couple of flood advisories would follow, as the storms kicked out 3 inches of rain in some neighborhoods.

Orange City received three inches of rain in some residential areas as the storms pushed through Volusia County, flooding streets and a home.

By sunset the storms were dissipating, except in Marion County, where they continued into the night.
