Investigators search for two women in Seminole County distraction thefts

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - Investigators in Seminole County released surveillance photos that they hope will lead to the arrest of two women suspected of distraction thefts in Casselberry and Altamonte Springs.

Video captured on cameras at an Altamonte Springs retail store show a female sneaking behind store's cash register to snatch an employee's wallet.

Police said the woman waited until there were no customers inside and while another woman, believed to be an associate of the thief, distracted the employee.

The owner of Bellys Babies & Beyond said the pair stole her employee's credit card and $100 in cash, and then returned the wallet back behind the register.

The store owner said the two were in the store for about 20 minutes. One even picked out some clothes, worth about $12, and then she paid with a $100 bill.

Robert Leedy with Brightlight Books in Casselberry was working when the women struck a second time. Leedy said one of the women had a child with her. He said they stole cash, debit cards and the store's tablet.

Leedy said the women bought a book before leaving the store and then went next door to a convenience store, where they used the stolen credit cards. They also used the cards at a nearby mall.
